Classic Meatballs

Servings

Makes about 16 large or 45 small meatballs

Ingredients

1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
½ cup minced onions
¼ cup minced green bell pepper
¼ cup minced celery
2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons Barbecue Magic® OR Meat Magic® OR Poultry Magic® OR Vegetable Magic®
1 tablespoon Magic Pepper Sauce®
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 egg, lightly beaten
¼ cup fine breadcrumbs
1 pound 80/20 ground beef
1 pound ground pork
2 tablespoons canola oil (for large meatballs only)

How To Prepare

SMALL MEATBALLS (Party/Cocktail Size):

Preheat oven to 425˚. Heat oil and butter over medium high heat in a small sauce pot. When the butter is melted, add the onions, green bell pepper, and celery and cook until soft and brown. Stir in the Magic Seasoning Blend, Magic Pepper Sauce®, and Worcestershire Sauce and remove from heat. Place in a bowl and refrigerate until cold, about 30 minutes.
Add the cooled vegetable mix to a large bowl along with the egg, breadcrumbs, ground beef, and ground pork. Mix well with hands and form tablespoon or so sized balls.
Place on a lined and oiled baking sheet and cook for 12 minutes.
Remove from oven and serve hot with Magic Fresh Marinara, Sweet and Tangy Barbecue Sauce, your other favorite sauce, or on their own.


LARGE MEATBALLS:

Preheat oven to 350 ˚. Heat oil and butter over medium high heat in a small sauce pot. When the butter is melted, add the onions, green bell pepper, and celery and cook until soft and brown. Stir in the Magic Seasoning Blend, Magic Pepper Sauce®, and Worcestershire Sauce and remove from heat. Place in a bowl and refrigerate until cold, about 30 minutes.
Add the cooled vegetable mix to a large bowl along with the egg, breadcrumbs, ground beef, and ground pork. Mix well with hands and form 2 oz balls.
In a large sauté pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat and brown half of the meatballs on all sides. Remove to a lined and oiled baking sheet. Repeat with remaining oil and meatballs. Place browned meatballs in oven for 5 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165˚.
Remove from oven and serve hot with Magic Fresh Marinara, Sweet and Tangy Barbecue Sauce, your other favorite sauce, or on their own.
